Tanzanian agribusiness reported by independent press (The Citizen, 10 Jan 2022) to run contract-farming operations for African bird's-eye chili, buying from smallholders at a reported average of TZS 7,000/kg and exporting under weekly contracts described in that reporting as roughly 30 tonnes across Japan, the UK, the US, India and South Africa. A company representative (Richard Isingo, described as Northern and Central Zone Manager) was quoted describing farmer support from nursery through harvest and storage. The company's own domain (vitessetz.com), surfaced by search as its official site, did not resolve (NXDOMAIN) when checked directly on 2026-09-28, so none of these figures could be corroborated against a company-controlled primary source in this review — they rest entirely on the newspaper's reporting, which is itself now several years old.
